Warehouse Order Selector ID - 1743

Amazon is hiring for Warehouse Order Selector

As an Warehouse Order Selector, you will play a crucial role in the delivery process, ensuring that customer orders are prepared and loaded onto delivery vehicles accurately and efficiently. You will work in a fast-paced environment, receiving and sorting inventory, and preparing it for delivery to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prioritizing high-demand and time-sensitive items is crucial to ensure prompt and satisfactory customer service
  • Use advanced technologies such as smartphones and hand-held devices to sort, investigate, and assemble orders
  • A vital responsibility involves the construction, covering, classification, and conveyance of stacks and parcels
  • Carefully lift and carry parcels weighing up to 49 pounds
  • Receive truck deliveries
  • One potential issue with relying solely on screen prompts is that users may become overly dependent on these prompts and may struggle to perform tasks without them. This highlights the importance of designing interfaces that strike a balance between providing guidance and allowing users to develop their own problem-solving skills
  • Throughout your shift, make it a point to stand resolutely, move with purpose, exert force, pull towards you, bend your knees, flex your legs, and stretch your arms
  • Make use of specialized gear like hand trucks, carts, and dollies to facilitate the movement of items
  • Employ staircases to move both upwards and downwards (where applicable)
  • Perform duties at an elevated height of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine, depending on the requirement

What it’s like at an Sorter:

  • Safety: The safety of our employees is our utmost concern, and we ensure this by sharing safety tips widely among all our team members.
  • Surroundings: In your work surroundings, you will need to navigate around moving objects such as order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts.
  • Activity: Certain pursuits in the great outdoors may necessitate a person to remain immobile in one position, wander for extended periods, or climb stairs.
  • Temperature: The temperatures in the warehouse vary depending on the section, ranging from 60°F to 90°F. Some areas can surpass 90°F on hotter days.
  • Noise level: The high volume of noise generated in this area requires the use of ear protection to attenuate any potential harm to users' hearing abilities.
  • Dress code: The dress code at Amazon offers a relaxed atmosphere, but with safety precautionary measures. Employees are required to wear comfortable, enclosed shoes, and select business units mandate the use of protective footwear. You'll get a $110 Zappos gift card on your first day at Amazon to purchase non-slip shoes.
