Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Android Platform team. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and implement high-quality software solutions for the Southwest App. You’ll contribute to critical technical decisions, mentor team members, and play a key role in driving the core user experience for our customers.

This position offers an opportunity to grow your technical expertise, work collaboratively, and help shape the future of technology at Southwest Airlines—all while working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction and roadmap for large-scale cloud-based systems.
  • Serve as a technical leader for development teams, including internal and external members.
  • Evaluate requirements and design solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define feature requirements.
  • Champion continuous improvement by researching and implementing new technologies.
  • Write, test, and maintain efficient, scalable, and maintainable code.
  • Review code for structure, standards compliance, and compatibility across systems.
  • Mentor and train software engineers to grow technical skills and capabilities.
  • Stay current with industry trends and tools through training, networking, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:

Experience

    • Extensive experience in software development and methodologies.
  • Preferred:
    • Hands-on expertise in mobile application development, especially for Android.
