WeVote has an open volunteer position for a person who has experience leading a Content Programming team across multiple social platforms. This is an opportunity to volunteer remotely with our active team to help us get ready for multiple elections in 2024. Our ideal volunteer is passionate about politics and excited to use technology to educate voters and increase voter turnout.

WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. WeVote is building a movement of excellent, passionate, part-time volunteers (starting with the founders) who build mobile technologies that will touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. WeVote is seeking a passionate lover of democracy who wishes to use their unique skills in social media programming to help encourage participation in our democracy by increasing voter turnout, candidate/initiative education, and participation in elections. Many deride social media as a negative force, spreading disinformation and reducing engagement in the things that matter. This is a real opportunity to use your talents in social for something with a higher purpose - leading the strategy for our Twitter account(s) to scale broader awareness and encourage engagement in the upcoming election cycle, and beyond. Your mission is to encourage our followers to spread the passion behind WeVote, and drive use of our proprietary platform designed and dedicated to informing and encouraging voters to exercise their most important right - their vote. We are strictly non-partisan, focusing on the importance of spreading verified, factual information as we educate voters and potential voters on their choices and how candidates/initiatives align with every individual’s personal values. 

This role reports to the VP, Head of Programming, but provides flexibility and oversight in managing your own unique knowledge, hacks and perspective on the Twitter platform. 

Responsibilities:

• The ideal candidate comes from either a media publisher or a social marketing organization and has relevant experience and a deep understanding of the current social media landscape, trends, and methods with a track record of delivering successful metrics across key platforms.
• Critical to the success of this role is the necessary interpersonal skills to manage an all-volunteer team who care deeply about Democracy and have innate programming skills on their platforms of expertise. 
• You are or want to become a HootSuite power-user.
• At least 5-7 hours each week during our core team hours M-F 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. in your time zone
• You want to work with an established and successful team. You are committed to strengthening American Democracy.
• You are striving for personal excellence.
• A willingness to work with and support other volunteers
• You are currently located in the US and can work one or two hours that overlap with US PT per week.

Not required, but nice to have.
