About the position

The Park Decorator role at Disneyland Resort is a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about bringing Disney dreams to life through creative and artistic decoration. In this role, it is essential for the Park Decorator to have a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols, hardware, and efficient fabrication techniques. An awareness of theme park décor installations is crucial, as is knowledge of current vendors and product availability for decorations. The Park Decorator will work closely with leaders within Resort Enhancement and may have opportunities to specialize in roles such as Set Decorator or Seasonal Holiday Decorator. This position is particularly suited for local applicants from Southern California, as no relocation assistance is offered. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical abilities, including knowledge of basic tools, glues, and adhesives, as well as strong freehand and graphic-illustration skills. They should be able to produce thumbnail sketches and finished-presentation-style drawings. A complete understanding of overhead rigging and hardware systems, color theory, composition, balance, texture, and period styles and fashions is also required. Proficiency in time management and efficient material utilization is essential, along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately for props, set fabrication, and installation. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in visual communications or three-dimensional media and floral design, and must be able to provide a portfolio showcasing their current display design work.

Responsibilities

Fabricate and maintain props, sets, window displays, floral arrangements, and artificial foliage applications.
Create seasonal holiday decorations and manage shade control for various locations.
Design and implement restaurant seating, window coverings, carpets, and theater curtains.
Understand and identify specific themes or time periods for each location's decor.
Ensure safety and efficient fabrication techniques are followed during installations.
Stay informed about current vendors and product availability for decorations.
Collaborate with leaders within Resort Enhancement to execute decoration projects.
